CADBURY INSPIRES CANADIANS TO SUPPORT UNICEF’S SCHOOLS FOR AFRICA PROGRAMME AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE ONE BRICK AT A TIME

Over a three-year period, Cadbury has committed $500,000 to UNICEF Canada in support of the Schools for Africa programme.  Cadbury has now developed The School House Project* to rally Canadian communities to come together in celebration of Halloween and to help children in Africa go to school.

The School House Project* is dedicated to helping UNICEF Canada raise much-needed awareness and funds for the Schools for Africa programme to improve education for children living in Malawi and Rwanda.  The programme helps provide school materials including desks and learning supplies; water sources on school grounds to provide safe, clean drinking water; latrines for boys and girls where proper washroom facilities are not available; valuable teacher training; and even soccer balls for use during recess and sports activity.

Through this website, Canadian communities large and small, from coast to coast, are encouraged to join Cadbury's The School House Project*, donate to UNICEF Canada and help build a better future for children in Africa.

$1 donation = 1 virtual brick

Online donations are symbolized by virtual bricks that represent the foundation that education offers for every young child.   The community with the greatest number of bricks will receive its very own Cadbury* Haunted Halloween Night celebration on October 31, 2009, complete with lots of treats for everyone to enjoy. (Rules and Regs)

At The School House Project*, every donation can make a difference:

  • A $5 donation can provide pencils for an entire class of students.
  • A $10 donation can provide a soccer ball for use during recess.
  • A $25 donation can provide a desk for a student.
  • A $195 donation can enable two teachers to attend a three-day training workshop.
  • A $250 donation can provide school supplies for 17 students for a year.
  • A $5,000 donation can provide a clean water system for a school.
